The Arboleas Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

The Arboleas neighbourhood watch scheme covers the whole area under the control of the Ayuntamiento de Arboleas – The Arboleas Town Hall.  The scheme is divided into Barriadas (neighbourhoods) each of which are administered by a local coordinator.  Information of illegal or suspicious activity is obtained from members and the local police; this is then passed on to members via email.

Anybody who owns or rents a property that is located within the Arboleas Town Hall catchment area is eligible and invited to join the scheme.  This can easily be done by email.

The following Barriadas currently have schemes.  A scheme can easily be started up in any of the other Barriadas.

Bella Vista/El Rulador

El Chopo

El Prado

El Rincon

La Cueva

La Judea

La Perla

Los Carrascos

Los Garcias

Los Golindrinas

Los Higuerales

Los Torres

Persons living in a Barriada where there is not currently a scheme can also join.If anybody would like to join the scheme please email the lead coordinator Mark Drew at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it giving your name, street name, and Barriada and your email will be passed on directly to the appropriate coordinator.  If you would like to become the coordinator for any Barriada which currently does not have a scheme, please email the lead coordinator Mark Drew at the above address.

In summary some of the key objectives of Neighbourhood Watch are

  • To prevent crime by improving security, increasing vigilance, creating and maintaining a caring community and reducing opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness.
  • To reduce undue fear of crime by providing accurate information about risks and by promoting a sense of security and community spirit, particularly amongst the more vulnerable members of the community.
  • To improve police/community liaison by providing effective communications through Neighbourhood Watch messaging systems which warn Coordinators of local crime trends/threats.
